Koorana is seeking an experienced Preschool Director (Early Childhood Teacher) to join our Early Childhood Education Services team on a permanent full-time basis from 8.00am – 4.00pm at our new inclusive preschool in Bass Hill opening in August 2025.

About the Role?

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, energetic, skilled and passionate Early Childhood Teacher to join the team as our Preschool Director (Nominated Supervisor) at our new Bass Hill Preschool opening Term 3, 2025. The Preschool will be open five days a week from 8.00am – 4.00pm. Our Preschools operate in line with the NSW Department of Education’s school terms. Children do not attend during the school holidays, this time is set aside for our early childhood education team for program reflection, in-service training and team building.

The Director holds the key functions of Nominated Supervisor, ensuring the delivery of a compliant and high-quality service. The successful candidate will guide the development and implementation of an inclusive program to ensure the successful participation of all children enrolled in the Preschool. They will need to draw on their professional skills and knowledge to provide pedagogical support and mentoring to the Educational Leader, Responsible Person/s, and the rest of the team. The Director will support their team and co-workers in delivering a wholly inclusive program.

Additionally, this position is also responsible for working collaboratively with specialist staff to ensure intervention strategies for children with additional learning needs are developed, integrated into the preschool program, and evaluated in consultation with both the family and the specialist team.

We envisage that the successful candidate will commence approx. six weeks prior to the preschool opening date (current targeted opening date is schedule for August 2025). There will be opportunities for the successful candidate to attend (paid) professional development sessions prior to their official commencement date.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a thorough understanding of:

  • National Quality Framework, inclusive of the National Law and Regulations, Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standard;
  • The Assessment and Rating process;
  • Child Safe Organisation and Child Well Being Legislation; and
  • Workplace Health and Safety Legislation.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Nominated Supervisor (preferable).
  • Have a sound understanding of early child development and proven experience implementing evidence-based practice in early childhood education and care and inclusive practice.
  • Be knowledgeable in applicable early childhood education laws and regulations and the NSW disability standards, and experience in their practical application.
  • Be highly experienced working with children of all abilities within an early childhood setting.
  • Plan and implement a high-quality early childhood curriculum.
  • Be experienced in leading and managing a team of Educators.
  • Be experienced working with children with additional learning needs within an early childhood setting.
  • Demonstrate experience working with vulnerable children and families with multiple and complex needs.
  • Have efficient time management skills.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a culturally diverse community and build strong relationships with families and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Uphold Koorana values throughout day to day performance and when representing Koorana both internally and externally.

Qualifications & Certifications

  • An Early Childhood Teaching degree or ACECQA approved equivalent qualification (Bachelor or above).
  • Working with Children Check.
  • National Police Check.
  • 2 x Covid-19 vaccination or have an approved medical contraindication certificate.
